I was naive enough to believe that if I showed someone what love is, they would learn from me and then treat me with kindness and respect.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t usually happen.. does it.

I had to learn the hard way.

From friends, to lovers, to family… I kept finding myself in the same story.

I kept being me.
Looking past the red flags.
Forgiving.
Hoping for the best.

Trying to build something healthy… with people who didn’t want peace. They wanted control.

Somewhere along the way, I realized something that didn’t feel good to admit… people treat you the way you teach them to.

And I had been teaching them that my boundaries were optional.

Because the truth is… a boundary means nothing if you don’t enforce it.

Then one day… it happened.

The day I never thought would come.
The day I didn’t even realize I was waiting for.

But it showed up anyway.

And when it did…
I didn’t explain.
I didn’t argue.
I didn’t try to fix it.

I just knew.
